Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in International and Commercial Law

Course outline

A Postgraduate Diploma will be awarded if you successfully pass 120 units of taught modules. After that you will be permitted to upgrade to the LLM.
This programme is for students who wish to specialise in international and commercial law. It offers advanced courses in a range of specialist subjects, as well as foundation courses in the fundamentals of the international legal system and international relations
Following successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma in International and Commercial Law, you should have developed a range of skills, which include:
• A sound understanding of each of the chosen areas of law
• Confidence in the analysis of complex case-law
• The ability to make your argument convincingly, orally and in writing
• The ability to take a co-operative approach to problem solving

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this programme, you should have acquired a more sophisticated understanding of the international legal system, international law-making processes, the diverse functions of international law in contemporary society, differing approaches to the subject, and a greater familiarity with research materials and methods.
Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria describe the requirements a learner is expected to meet in order to demonstrate that the learning outcome has been achieved. Command verbs reflect the level of the course.

Entry Requirement:

For entry onto the CQHE Education L7 qualification you must have at least one of the following:

Academic Route:
An honours degree in a relevant subject area from a UK university (1) or equivalent award from a non-UK university (2)
Or

Combined Route:
An honours degree in a non-relevant subject area from a UK university or equivalent award from a non-UK university, together with three years’ work experience in a relevant area (3)
Or

Work Experience Route:
Five years’ work experience in a relevant industry or area (4)
And
An IELTS score of 6.5 or above for students who do not hold a degree-level qualification wholly taught and examined in English.

Progression Route :
The qualification is designed to allow entry to and/or enhance progression in a wide range of management roles in the public, private or charitable sectors. CQHE Education currently has articulations in place for entry onto LLM and other master’s level qualifications with a number of universities.
